We say it all the time, we love indie game developers - and we love the games they produce.

Although AAA titles are still very present, over the years, the indie game revenue on Steam has increased significantly - with indie games taking 48% of the revenue share in 2024.

Currently, there are several indie games who are making waves on Steam through their creativity, passion and agility. Aside from the way the games are made, another contributing factor to the indie game developer success is the number of indie games released.

So let’s check out some of the titles currently dominating Steam and give them the spotlight they deserve.
TVGS: Schedule I

This open-world simulation game developed by Australian studio TVGS released in early access in March 2025. The game became very popular, very quickly and currently has 460,000 concurrent players - holding the number one spot on Steam for over two weeks.
Lente: Spilled!

Spilled! is a simulation game which focuses on cleaning ocean waste and oil spills and was created by solo developer Lente. Released only a month ago, it has sold over 50k copies and has accumulated 95% positive reviews!
Sunset Visitor: 1000xRESIST

This narrative-driven game explores the themes of the pandemic as well as intergenerational trauma. By early May it had sold 100k copies and has received numerous nominations at awards like The New York Game Awards and The Canadian Game Awards.
Cyberwave: A Game About Digging A Hole

Developed by Cyberwave, A Game About Digging a Hole is a simulation game where players dig as big of a hole as possible. Although it may be seen as a simple concept, with the game only taking 14 days to be designed, it sold over 250k copies within a week after its release in February 2025.
These titles are just a select few indie games showcasing the diversity and creativity on Steam. From strategic simulations to narrative-rich experiences, indie developers continue to push boundaries and deliver engaging content to players worldwide.
